This is Rydal Water in the Lake District. On the morning I set out to photograph this location, the rain was falling gently but steadily. I put aside the thoughts of going back to bed, believing that by the time I reached my destination the rain would have stopped and there would be a glorious sunrise!
There have been times in my life when it's felt like the situation I'm in is dark and no prospect of seeing light anytime soon! One thing I have found having reached the point of there's nothing I can do to change it. I find myself praying to God. Things don't instantly change, (apart from one situation, but that's another story!) but they do start to move in the right direction.
Back to the morning of this shoot, I arrived at the car park, with about fifteen mins to go before sunrise. This was because of the wrong turn I had taken on the way to this location, it was still raining albeit not as heavily as when I started out. I grabbed my camera gear and headed for the lake, as I left the car park the rain stopped. I was able to setup and get this shot, the beautiful light was complemented by rising mist, it was even better than I had imagined!
So when I look at this picture it reminds me that despite how dark it seems, the sun will rise in my dark situation.
